One of the best ways to travel around Annapolis, Arnold, and Parole, MD, is in a subcompact SUV. This way, you can easily navigate through the city streets and squeeze into tight parking spaces. If the vehicle has lots of features, then it’ll help make your commutes much more fun.
Two viable options are the 2022 MINI Cooper Countryman and the 2022 Kia Soul. We here at MINI of Annapolis are here to help you decide which one is right for your needs in this MINI Cooper Countryman vs. Kia Soul comparison.
2022 MINI Cooper Countryman vs 2022 Kia Soul: Cargo Amenities
The 2022 MINI Cooper Countryman and 2022 Kia Soul are great vehicles for your everyday travels. After all, they have lots of amenities to help make your drives even more convenient for you.
For example, they both come with split-folding rear seats, making it easy to load larger items inside.
Additionally, the MINI Cooper Countryman offers a power tailgate. With a tailgate that can automatically open, accessing the cargo area when your hands are full will be a breeze.
The MINI Cooper Countryman also offers a picnic cushion. This is great for impromptu picnics or just stopping to admire the view. The plush seat retracts into the boot of the car; you can be comfortable while being a part of the great outdoors.
Unfortunately, you won’t find a power tailgate or picnic cushion in the Kia Soul.
MINI Cooper Countryman vs Kia Soul: Interior Features
Both the MINI and Kia have lots of features to help make your commutes more enjoyable. They both offer heated front seats, so you can stay cozy on especially cold nights.
Additionally, the vehicles offer Apple CarPlay® smartphone integration. Just plug your phone into either car’s USB port and your favorite apps will appear on the display screen. You can then listen to podcasts, send text messages, and more without needing to access your phone.
All your media options will be displayed clearly on the standard 8.8-inch touchscreen in the MINI Cooper Countryman. The Soul, meanwhile, comes standard with an 8-inch touchscreen. That small difference in numbers would be much more noticeable when you see each screen in person.
MINI Cooper Countryman vs Kia Soul: Performance Specs
The MINI Cooper Countryman comes standard with a 1.5L TwinPower Turbo 3-cylinder engine that delivers 134 horsepower and 162 lb-ft of torque. If you’re looking for a bit more power, there’s an available 2.0L TwinPower Turbo 4-cylinder Valvetronic engine that produces up to 301 horsepower and 331 lb-ft of torque.
Unfortunately, the Kia Soul isn’t quite as powerful. Its base 2.0L 4-cylinder engine delivers 147 horsepower, but only 132 lb-ft of torque. If you wanted to try and match the power behind the available MINI Cooper Countryman engine, you’d still fall short. An available 1.6L turbocharged GDI engine offers only 201 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque in the Kia.
Furthermore, the MINI comes standard with front-wheel drive and offers available all-wheel drive. The optional ALL4 system delivers optimum traction, so you can feel confident driving in most any weather condition.
Unfortunately, the Kia Soul doesn’t offer all-wheel drive in any of its trim levels.
There’s no doubt that the 2022 Kia Soul is an impressive automobile. However, the 2022 MINI Cooper Countryman has more features and an all-around better performance.
